Equality and Diversity

Michelmores is committed to providing a working environment which promotes equality of opportunity for all.

This means we are dedicated to providing high quality legal services for all sections of the community that make up our society today, and to be responsive to the specific needs required by our diverse range of clients.  Michelmores values and respects this diversity and strives to ensure we celebrate the differences we encounter.

Therefore, the Firm and its employees will not discriminate on the grounds of gender, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion or belief, age, or physical ability in deciding what services to offer, whether to accept instructions from clients, in selecting or instructing Counsel and other experts, in the provision of services or in the recruitment, promotion, reward and recognition of our people.

As a business, we place paramount importance on service to clients. We fully recognise the importance of team working and actively encourage and support our staff to meet their personal career aspirations.

What is Michelmores approach to diversity?

We recognise that everyone the Firm interacts with is an individual. We believe in creating a culture of inclusivity - where individual differences are celebrated. It is the difference between people that is the source of creativity. For example, we are constantly striving to be innovative in how we attract employees to Michelmores, positively to seek ways in which to promote the Michelmores brand to groups which are currently under-represented in the firm.

We are realistic in that best practice in this area cannot be achieved overnight. We actively seek out ways to learn from the business community, from our clients and our people to ascertain how we can enhance what we do to promote and celebrate diversity. This incorporates consulting with our people to understand how we can be better, including talking to employees in minority groups. With this in mind, we have a formally constituted Staff Forum, which has representation from across the business, and meets quarterly. The aim of the Forum is to help us gain a better understanding of the actions we need to take under our People agenda, with a view to maximising motivation and commitment at all levels.

Our Aim is to create an environment in which people from all backgrounds can work together harmoniously, by combating prejudice, stereotyping, harassment and undignified and disrespectful behaviour.
