Every law firm will tell you about their ‘open door policy’ and how they pride themselves on their ‘friendly’ staff. Michelmores endeavours to go one step further.
Many of our staff are close friends outside of the office, and our varied social events provide great opportunities for trainees to form such friendships. After only a few weeks, new trainees feel right at home in the office.
Michelmores encourages trainees to get involved in events where they can socialise with people throughout the firm. These events are organised by our social committee on a regular basis. For example, a treasure hunt, a quiz evening, ten pin bowling, bbqs, ice-skating and staff drinks evenings in addition to the Christmas party.
At the commencement of their training period, trainees are allocated a "buddy". This is someone who is either a trainee or recently qualified solicitor who understands the ups and downs of life as a trainee. Trainees are also encouraged to support one another, and this ethos is maintained throughout the firm. The level of support from supervisors is second to none, and the firm is keen to ensure that there is always someone available to answer any questions that you may have as a trainee.
The partners are approachable and down to earth, and trainees here at Michelmores often comment about the benefits of the contact they have with the partners.
The firm is extremely proud of its high retention rate of trainees. The pleasant, dynamic working environment created by sociable, helpful and motivated people is, without doubt, a huge contributing factor as to why our trainees want to stay with Michelmores when they qualify.
