Quality of environment

Photographs of Michelmores building and staff membersMichelmores relocated from its city centre offices in January 2005, a move necessitated by the substantial growth of the firm.

We now occupy a spacious, open plan office in Pynes Hill, on the eastern edge of Exeter. With floor to ceiling windows, panoramic views of the countryside and parking facilities, the transition has been well received by staff and clients alike.

The building itself houses a large conservatory and café area, ideal for mingling with colleagues over lunch. There is a fully equipped gym on the lower ground floor and four tennis courts located adjacent to the office, both of which have become quite popular with the more active members of staff! We have a fully qualified fitness instructor on site two days a week for inductions, personal training programmes, circuit training and various levels of running group.

We also have an active Social Committee comprised of partners, fee earners, trainees and support staff. Regular events are organised throughout the year, including:

  • The annual Michelmores pub quiz
  • A barbeque at the Sidmouth office
  • The Christmas party
  • An annual treasure hunt
  • to name but a few.

On top of the organised social events, there are regular informal opportunities for new trainees to become involved in the social life of the firm. Whether it is sporting events, drinks evenings or department days out, there is something at Michelmores to cater for all tastes.

Michelmores is not only devoted to its staff and their well being, but is also a prominent member of the local community, having developed a co-ordinated and focused Corporate Social Responsibility Programme. Below are a few examples of what our CSR Programme includes a commitment to:

the Environment (both globally and locally)

  • We have undertaken energy saving reports to ensure the new wing we are adding to Woodwater House is as carbon neutral as possible and are introducing several additional environmentally friendly features to our existing building.

Education

  • We provide careers advice at schools, assist with the work experience programmes and provide mentoring schemes.

Contributing to the local community

  • We have an annual charity run and other events to assist with local charities and our staff and partners participate in a wide variety of local committee and councils. A group of our staff recently assisted a local school in Budleigh Salterton with a sensory garden project.
