Michelmores represents institutions, companies and individuals regionally and throughout the UK with an increasing number of international instructions. We have a substantial and diverse client base with both private and public sector clients. The Firm’s expertise in a number of areas is recognised in Chambers/Legal 500 and we are ranked very highly in all our major areas of focus namely; Property, Corporate Finance, Trust & Personal Tax and Commercial Litigation. In addition we are ranked in almost all the other areas in which we specialise.

The Firm is based in Exeter with a London office and another specialising in Private Client in Sidmouth. Our clients range from individuals to small to medium size partnerships and companies to multi-national PLC companies and substantial public sector clients. We are a regional heavy weight with significant substantial clients based within the South West. In addition we have many clients that are based outside the South West and outside the UK.

Having been established for so many years we act for many of the major local institutions such as; University of Exeter, Exeter Diocese, Devon & Cornwall Constabulary and Exeter College and to this we have added over 20 government departments nationally such as; MOD and Court Service. For the latter we have been the lead solicitors in connection with both the New Supreme Court and Commercial Court in London.

The quality of the work has always been one of the key factors in enabling us to recruit so many high calibre lawyers from the city and other nationally renowned firms and hence to grow our business.

We are the only firm in the South West selected for the L-CAT panel to provide all forms of commercial advice to all members of the public sector.

Whether dealing with commercial or property transactions the number and quality of the cases is second to none in the South West and in the property sector our status is recognised in our sponsorship of the Michelmores/Western Morning News Commercial Property Awards which has done so much to promote this vital sector in the last five years or more.

On top of our commercial practice we have the leading private client practice in the region acting for a very large number of high-net worth private individuals in connection with all their personal affairs, and particularly specialising in complex trust and tax planning.
